A first trip with AirBnB

For a recent weekend in Madrid, I made my first foray into the world of Airbnb.

At first, I found the idea of renting a stranger’s apartment slightly nerve-wracking, but it didn’t take long to become a convert. Four of us stayed in this beautiful home just a stumble north of Gran Via. I doubt I’ll ever stay somewhere this nice again for £18.50 a night.

The little mezzanine held a cosy double and single bed, with another sofa and sofa-bed on the open plan ground floor. A swish, modern bathroom was tucked away in the corner and the kitchen was fully stocked, right down to martini glasses. Our host, Emilio, was also fantastic, passing on lots of local tips before leaving us to it.

Thanks for having us stay!

  1. Me, too. I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this for so long! How was NYC price-wise v. hotels?
